Tesla’s Cyber Cab Features Wireless Charging

Tesla’s new Robotaxi, known as the Cybercab, is a groundbreaking vehicle that integrates wireless charging technology, eliminating the need for manual plug-ins. This innovation allows the vehicle to charge via inductive charging, a system that uses electromagnetic fields to transfer energy between the car and a charging pad.

As demonstrated at Tesla’s “We, Robot” event, the Cybercab can drive over a charging pad to begin charging automatically. Tesla is focused on making this a seamless experience, reinforcing the company’s vision of a fully autonomous future where minimal human intervention is needed.

One highlight of the Cybercab’s charging capabilities is its 19 kW wireless charging speed, which is faster than Tesla’s standard Wall Connectors but still more modest compared to their Superchargers. This makes it ideal for a taxi service where vehicles are constantly in use and need quick, consistent recharges between trips.

In addition to wireless charging, the Cybercab is designed to operate without a steering wheel or pedals, relying entirely on Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities. Tesla’s vision for this vehicle includes mass deployment by 2026, with a price tag under $30,000, making it an affordable option in the future of autonomous transport
