Feather Robotics has launched a modular general-purpose robot aimed at developers who want to build physical AI applications without designing an entire robot from scratch.

The California startup is offering the wheeled, dual-arm system at a promotional starting price of $29,990. Feather says the platform includes a one-meter reach, 600 mm of vertical travel, hot-swappable batteries and an open SDK with Python and ROS 2 support. Developers can configure onboard NVIDIA Jetson compute and use outside robotics AI models rather than being locked to one intelligence stack.

Feather also announced $7.6 million in pre-seed funding led by Gradient Ventures. The company says it has already passed $1 million in revenue, although detailed independent uptime and deployment data have not been published. The launch arrives as physical AI development tools move closer to real robot deployment.

Feather’s approach separates the robot body from the AI model. That could give robotics developers another option between expensive closed systems and research hardware that may require substantial engineering before deployment.
