Qualcomm has introduced a new fixed-wireless platform that combines 5G Advanced, integrated non-terrestrial network support, agentic AI and tri-band Wi-Fi 8 in one broadband gateway architecture.
The Dragonwing FWA Gen 6 Elite Platform, announced October 12 at Network X 2026, is built on Qualcomm’s X105 5G Modem-RF system and fifth-generation 5G AI Processor. Qualcomm says the platform can adapt to changing network conditions and run intelligent connectivity functions directly on the gateway.
One gateway, several access paths
The design is aimed at homes, businesses and remote locations where fixed wireless may need to bridge several network types. 5G Advanced provides the primary cellular path, integrated NTN adds satellite-capable connectivity, and Wi-Fi 8 handles local wireless distribution. Fierce Network notes that the X105 uses a 3GPP Release 19-ready architecture, giving operators a path toward later network generations.
Qualcomm has not announced carrier deployments, pricing or shipping dates for the new FWA platform. The announcement is therefore a technology launch, not evidence of commercial performance in deployed networks.
