Stablecoin payments company Rain has launched embedded wallets that partners can place directly inside their own apps. In its October 13 announcement, Rain said the non-custodial wallets support 12 blockchains and connect one balance to cards, virtual accounts, onramps, offramps and payouts.
The supported networks include Ethereum, Solana, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Celo, Monad, Plasma, Optimism and ZKsync. Rain says users can access the wallets with passkeys or verification codes instead of a seed phrase, while custodial wallets and earning features are planned before year-end. PYMNTS independently reported the rollout the same day.
Rain previously highlighted embedded wallets as part of the infrastructure behind Western Union’s Stablecard, alongside cards and stablecoin settlement.
The important change is not a new token. It is the attempt to make stablecoins behave more like ordinary account balances. That matches the broader trend BitcoinVersus.Tech has tracked as Citi and Coinbase bring stablecoin payments into bank rails, Stripe pushes Open USD across its payment stack, and Fiserv moves bank settlement onto Solana.
Rain says balances can fund its issued cards at 175 million merchant locations, but availability varies by jurisdiction. The company is not a bank, and banking services tied to virtual accounts come through partner banks.
Rain co-founders Farooq Malik and Charles Yoo-Naut explain how the company connects stablecoin balances to real-world payments and existing card networks.
