Privy Brings AI Wallets to the XRP Ledger

Privy is bringing programmable wallet infrastructure to the XRP Ledger, giving developers a simpler way to build embedded crypto payments and AI-agent transactions with XRP, RLUSD and other XRPL assets.

In its October 13 announcement, Privy said developers will be able to create XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions and give users portable wallets without forcing them to manage a separate crypto app. Server-side wallets can also let software agents hold funds and pay for services through x402.

CoinDesk reported that Ripple and Privy see the same infrastructure supporting machine-to-machine payments, while noting that new XRPL wallets still need the network’s minimum reserve before they can transact.

x402 turns paid API access into a machine-readable payment flow, which is the type of transaction Privy wants XRPL wallets to support for AI agents.

Wallets Become Software Infrastructure

The shift is less about giving AI a speculative trading account and more about giving software a controlled way to pay for data, compute and online services. BitcoinVersus recently covered why AI agents may need digital money, RLUSD moving deeper into institutional custody, and Ripple’s expanding institutional infrastructure.

Privy says future work will add policy controls and fee sponsorship, giving developers more control over how autonomous wallets spend without removing user ownership and portability.
