Siemens is expanding deeper into AI data-center power with a strategic investment in Skeleton Technologies and an exclusive global partnership to sell and scale Skeleton’s supercapacitor-based systems.
In an October 14 announcement, Siemens said it will integrate Skeleton’s high-power energy storage into its electrical infrastructure portfolio from the grid connection to the AI rack. The goal is to absorb the rapid power swings created when thousands of accelerators change load within milliseconds.
The technical direction is becoming clearer at this week’s OCP Global Summit. Siemens and Skeleton are presenting a validated 600 kW, 800 VDC sidecar power-system design built around OCP low-voltage DC frameworks. It pairs DC-DC electronics with high-power storage to buffer GPU transients and reduce how much upstream electrical infrastructure must be oversized.
That fits the broader move BitcoinVersus.Tech has been tracking through Skeleton’s supercapacitor work with Infineon, OCP’s push beyond 1 MW racks, and new 1 MW 800 VDC rack hardware.
An independent Data Centre Magazine report notes that Siemens’ existing data-center business already serves much of the hyperscale market. The new deal gives it a direct energy-storage layer for the white space, where AI rack power is becoming harder to manage with conventional architectures alone.
