Standard Asset Company has opened a headquarters in Abu Dhabi and announced a proposed $1.5 billion investment strategy combining a Bitcoin reserve with UAE real estate. The October 27 announcement names Coinbase Asset Management as exclusive manager of the firm’s Bitcoin holdings and identifies a member of Dubai’s ruling family among its advisers and shareholders.
The figure covers the combined Bitcoin and property strategy, not a $1.5 billion Bitcoin purchase. Standard Asset Company has not disclosed how much capital will be assigned to either asset, its existing Bitcoin balance or a timetable for buying coins. The investment approach is proposed, not evidence that the full amount has already been deployed.
Coinbase will manage the Bitcoin reserve
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum is listed among the firm’s advisers and shareholders, alongside former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Coinbase Institutional executive Brett Tejpaul and British parliamentarian Lord Iain McNicol. The royal-family connection does not establish funding by Dubai’s government or a sovereign wealth fund.

The company, formally Standard Proprietary Company Ltd., was founded by Sakhib Waseem, Adam Ali and Mason Borda. Its headquarters sit in Abu Dhabi Global Market, rather than Dubai.
According to the firm’s published investment plan, Bitcoin acquisitions would happen in phases. It also intends to pursue managed yield on the reserve and reinvest proceeds, while acquiring hospitality assets and branded residences that could produce income or property-sale revenue.

Coinbase Asset Management’s exclusive appointment establishes a named institutional manager for the proposed reserve. But managed Bitcoin yield introduces liquidity and counterparty risks beyond simply holding coins, and Standard Asset Company does not guarantee returns.
The proposed model differs from publicly listed Bitcoin treasury companies such as Strive. Standard Asset Company is a proprietary business investing for its own account; its disclosures say it is not a licensed financial services provider serving outside clients. Its registration in Abu Dhabi does not itself constitute authorization to offer regulated investment products.
For now, the outstanding questions are financing, the division of capital between Bitcoin and property, the amount of Bitcoin actually acquired and when real estate transactions will close. Those details will determine how its ambition compares with the largest existing corporate Bitcoin treasuries.
