Braiins OS 26.10 Cuts Bitcoin Miner Restarts and Improves Cooling

Braiins released Braiins OS 26.10 on October 27, 2026, updating firmware for supported Bitmain Antminer S19- and S21-family Bitcoin mining machines. The release targets operational reliability: fewer unnecessary mining-process restarts, faster fan response to chip overheating, improved power-supply communications and clearer repair logs. It does not announce a measured fleet-wide hashrate gain.

An operational restart can interrupt share submissions even when electrical power remains available. Braiins says it corrected two tuner-control behaviors: reapplying the existing target through the API and switching between power and hashrate targets in the graphical interface could unnecessarily restart bosminer. The new version avoids those restarts under the affected conditions.

Cooling and diagnostic changes

The update also increases fan speed automatically when chip temperature climbs rapidly and adds a chip identifier to dangerous-temperature errors. Those changes may help technicians localize problems with hashboard thermal sensing, but a chip number alone does not prove the chip is defective. Operators should still investigate airflow, heatsink contact and reliable sensor readings.

Braiins fixed stalled power-supply I²C communication on Zynq control boards, improved firmware-package verification on several other controller platforms and reduced noisy PSU warnings until retries are exhausted. The release also addresses failed tuning of the S19 XP+ Hyd. at higher water temperatures and allows web-interface uninstallation.

What miners should verify

Before upgrading, technicians should confirm the exact model and control-board type against the official compatibility and download list, preserve their configuration and follow a controlled rollback plan. After updating, compare real hashrate, restart logs, accepted shares, PSU errors and temperature/fan trends against an existing baseline. Cable or connector defects still require physical investigation; firmware cannot repair damaged hardware.

The fixes follow September’s 26.09 diagnostics release and a 26.09.1 hotfix for temperature-sensor alarms that temporarily stopped mining. Braiins has not published a controlled uptime or revenue comparison for 26.10. The practical next test is whether a power-flexible mining site can change operating targets without unintended downtime while retaining full thermal protection.
