Krispy Kreme’s stock managed to beat NVIDIA over a selected one-year trading window, but the companies’ latest published earnings reveal a vastly different financial outcome. NVIDIA earned $59.688 billion in GAAP net income for its fiscal second quarter ended July 26, 2026. Krispy Kreme recorded a $13.315 million GAAP net loss for the quarter ended September 27. The earlier BitcoinVersus.Tech share-return comparison concerns market pricing rather than profits.
Net income measures a company’s remaining accounting earnings after expenses, interest and taxes. A stock’s percentage return instead measures how its price changes from a selected starting point. Profitability and investment performance can diverge sharply when expectations, valuations and investor sentiment change.
A $59.7 billion profit alongside a doughnut-chain loss
NVIDIA reported $96.221 billion in quarterly revenue, up 106% from the comparable prior-year period, with Data Center sales of $89.0 billion. Its GAAP net income rose 126% from $26.422 billion a year earlier. A major expansion in AI infrastructure demand supported the earnings, although spending expectations and competitive pressures can still affect the share price.

Krispy Kreme’s November 5 earnings release reported revenue of $328.8 million, down 12.4%, largely because the company shifted some operations to franchise ownership. Quarterly GAAP losses narrowed from $20.131 million to $13.315 million. Improvement of approximately $6.8 million is meaningful for a turnaround, but a smaller loss is not a positive net profit.
Krispy Kreme narrows its loss, NVIDIA expands earnings

Krispy Kreme also reported $35.3 million in adjusted EBITDA, compared with $40.6 million a year earlier. Management calculated growth after excluding a $9.3 million cybersecurity insurance recovery from the 2025 comparison. Adjusted EBITDA excludes items accounted for in GAAP earnings and should never be substituted for the reported net loss. On a year-to-date basis through September 27, Krispy Kreme recorded a $55.819 million consolidated GAAP loss.
NVIDIA’s GAAP profit rose from $26.422 billion in the prior-year fiscal second quarter to $59.688 billion in fiscal Q2 2027. The two quarters plotted for NVIDIA are comparable within its own fiscal calendar; the NVIDIA-versus-Krispy-Kreme headline comparison uses their latest available quarters, which ended in different months.

Why the smaller company could win the stock comparison
The earlier article calculated a 6.65% one-year price gain for Krispy Kreme through November 6 against a 0.77% NVIDIA price decline, using specified historical closing prices and excluding dividends. Such a comparison describes how investors who bought at those dates fared, not how many dollars either company earned. A rebound from a depressed share price can produce a positive percentage return despite ongoing operating losses.
The surrounding market context matters. BitcoinVersus.Tech recently tracked the selloff in AI-linked semiconductor stocks and global semiconductor revenue growth. Rising industry sales do not guarantee rising share prices, particularly when investors reduce the valuation multiples they will pay for future earnings.
NVIDIA’s megawatt-scale AI rack and power-distribution work highlights the scale and expense of its computing market. Technology investors must assess whether future capital expenditure translates into sustained demand and margin growth. Restaurant investors instead weigh franchise sales, pricing, debt, labor costs and store-level traffic.
Neither company’s quarterly results predict its future stock return. Financially, however, the distinction is unambiguous: Krispy Kreme’s latest quarter remained loss-making while NVIDIA’s delivered tens of billions in GAAP profit. The eye-catching stock comparison is a reminder about valuation and timing, not a reversal of the companies’ earning power.

Editor’s Note: GAAP net income values in the comparison refer to NVIDIA’s quarter ended July 26, 2026, and Krispy Kreme’s quarter ended September 27, 2026. The source releases were published August 26 and November 5, respectively. Negative figures are accounting losses; non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA is not profit.
