Intel’s next-generation 14A manufacturing process is reportedly being evaluated by some of the largest technology companies in the United States.

Amazon, Apple, AMD, Google, Tesla, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Qualcomm are evaluating Intel 14A, according to a Piper Sandler research note cited by technology publications. Evaluation does not mean those companies have committed production orders to Intel.

Intel says 14A is in active development and builds on 18A with further performance-per-watt and density improvements. The company has also reported progress toward milestones that allow potential significant customers to evaluate the process for future products.

The potential customer interest is strategically important because Intel says the scale and pace of its 14A manufacturing expansion will ultimately depend on committed demand from Intel products and external design wins.
