Apple has launched HomeView, a $299 smart-home display built around a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, the A18 chip and its new Siri AI experience.
According to Apple’s October 13 announcement, HomeView can sit on a tabletop or be wall-mounted. Pre-orders start today, with availability beginning November 13 in the U.S. and several other markets.
HomeView is built around Siri AI
HomeView recognizes up to six people by face and can surface personalized Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My information. Apple says Siri AI can use personal context from a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, while requests can be handled on-device or through Private Cloud Compute.
The A18 chip also includes what Apple calls Secure Exclaves for isolating camera and microphone processing. HomeView can display up to nine compatible camera feeds, control Matter and Apple Home accessories, make FaceTime calls, play media and act as a shared photo frame.
Both the tabletop and wall-mounted versions start at $299. Apple says HomeView will not initially be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable there. Reuters reported the launch as part of Apple’s broader push into connected-home hardware.
