BitFuFu said on October 13, 2026 that its proposed acquisition of an 80 MW Bitcoin mining facility in Ethiopia may not close after the target company became involved in a contractual dispute with its electric-power supplier. The disclosure appears in BitFuFu’s September operating update.
BitFuFu has already paid $4.1 million to the sellers and deployed about 13,700 BITMAIN ANTMINER S19-series miners at the site. The machines represent roughly 1.57 EH/s of hashrate and carried a net book value of $1.74 million on September 30. The power supplier notified the target company on September 28 that it intended to exercise security rights over collateralized equipment and assets if disputed amounts were not paid within 10 days.
September production was 167 BTC, down 4% from August, while self-mining rose to 98 BTC from 88 BTC. Total managed hashrate fell from 20.6 EH/s to 19.4 EH/s, power capacity fell to 324 MW, and fleet efficiency held at 16.7 J/TH. That follows BitcoinVersus.Tech’s earlier tracking of BitFuFu as its managed hashrate moved above 20 EH/s.
BitFuFu says the incremental impact should be limited and that it can reallocate resources if needed. A same-day summary from Stock Titan also highlights the split between higher self-mining output and the Ethiopia acquisition risk.
If the acquisition conditions cannot be satisfied, BitFuFu says it is evaluating termination, arbitration, recovery of amounts paid and return of the deployed miners. The situation adds a second regulatory and operating constraint to a company already managing crypto-only conditions at its Oklahoma site while continuing work on BitFuFuOS fleet controls.
