MSI Expands Open AI Infrastructure

MSI is expanding its open data-center and AI infrastructure lineup at the 2026 OCP Global Summit with new 21-inch Open Rack v3 systems, modular DC-MHS building blocks, liquid-cooled GPU servers, and a deskside AI system.

In its October 14 announcement, MSI said its new ORv3 two-node platforms use AMD EPYC 9006 Series processors and support up to 600 W per node. The air-cooled CD281-S4091-X2 uses a 2OU design, while the liquid-cooled CD182-S6091-X2 fits two nodes into 1OU. Both use 48 V busbar power and PCIe 6.0.

StorageReview’s earlier hands-on look at MSI’s 21-inch ORv3 rack shows the same open-rack design direction: 48 V busbar power, direct liquid cooling and dense dual-node servers.

The open-hardware angle matters because operators are trying to raise rack density without locking every generation to a completely new chassis. MSI’s DC-MHS portfolio spans AMD and Intel platforms, while its new rack-scale AI configuration adds liquid cooling, 400 GbE networking and dense GPU systems. That connects directly with the broader shift toward liquid-cooled infrastructure, PCIe 6 servers and modular server management.

An independent StorageReview inspection of MSI’s OCP rack says the 48RU setup uses four liquid-cooled CG681-S6093 systems and can hold up to 32 RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs when fully populated.

MSI’s official ORv3 overview shows how its modular compute nodes fit into Open Rack v3 infrastructure.

MSI is also showing the XpertStation WS300, which brings a GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra system with up to 748 GB of coherent memory and dual 400 GbE networking to a desktop-sized platform. The larger story is not one product: it is the push to make AI infrastructure more modular from the desk to the rack.
