Digit 5 Gets a 9-Minute Recharge

Humanoid robot charging at a fast-charge dock inside an automated warehouse.

Agility Robotics has selected Nyobolt to supply the battery technology for Digit 5, giving the humanoid a claimed 90 minutes of runtime from a 9-minute recharge. That is a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, up from Digit 4’s 2:1 ratio.

The practical target is uptime. Agility says the new system is designed to let Digit work for more than 20 hours in a 24-hour day, which would make it easier to cover multiple warehouse or manufacturing shifts without long charging windows. Early access to Nyobolt-powered Digit 5 units is expected in the first half of 2027, with wider availability planned over the following six to nine months.

Agility has highlighted power, safety and endurance as the three competing design constraints behind Digit 5.

The battery upgrade builds on Agility’s broader push to make Digit 5 deployable at scale. BitcoinVersus.Tech has already covered Digit 5’s offboard safety bridge, ranked it among the top humanoids in 2026, and examined how actuators dominate humanoid hardware cost.

Agility’s official announcement provides the charging and rollout figures. IEEE Robotics and Automation Society previously highlighted battery endurance as one of the central constraints on economically useful humanoids. The 20-hour figure remains a vendor target until it is independently demonstrated under real customer workloads.

The S-4 becoming effective allows the shareholder vote process to proceed; it does not guarantee that the business combination closes on the expected terms or timetable. For the technology itself, commercialization still depends on uptime, task economics and energy availability—issues that become visible in developments such as Digit’s faster charging work. […]
