A quintuple-double requires at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals and 10 blocked shots in the same NBA game. Every category must independently meet the threshold. No player has achieved an officially recognized quintuple-double since the league began recording steals and blocks in 1973–74.
Victor Wembanyama’s November 4, 2026 performance against Dallas made the question compelling again. According to the official NBA gamebook, the San Antonio center produced 52 points, 24 rebounds, two assists, two steals and eight blocks in a 112–111 victory. The scoring and rebounding numbers were career highs, but only two of the five quintuple-double requirements were satisfied.

Why a 52-point game does not bring five categories close
Wembanyama had eight blocks, only two short of double digits, but also needed eight more assists and eight more steals. Even collecting 50 additional points would not offset either shortfall. A quadruple-double requires 10 or more in four categories; reaching the quintuple milestone demands the fifth as well.
The NBA’s February 12, 2024 Toronto account documents his 27-point, 14-rebound, 10-block triple-double, accompanied by five assists and two steals. The league’s February 23 Lakers report records 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and five blocks: a 5×5 performance, impressive for breadth but still only two categories at the 10-plus quintuple threshold.

Steals may be the biggest obstacle
Wembanyama’s extraordinary reach makes double-digit blocks conceivable, and his passing has produced games with at least 10 assists. Yet NBA.com’s October 2026 fantasy preview noted he had recorded 10-plus assists on three occasions without surpassing six steals in one game. A player needs both events alongside the three remaining double-digit categories.
The Spurs star has already demonstrated the defensive impact examined in BitcoinVersus.Tech’s Wembanyama–Dončić statistical comparison and MVP scouting report. Strong defense, however, cannot be reduced to steals alone: forcing a missed shot or deterring an attempt may help a team without generating a box-score steal or block.
The quadruple-double is the more realistic first milestone
The NBA recognizes four regular-season quadruple-doubles: Nate Thurmond in 1974, Alvin Robertson in 1986, Hakeem Olajuwon in 1990 and David Robinson in 1994. Robinson’s line against Detroit was 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks. No official quintuple-double has followed.
Unverified accounts of Wilt Chamberlain achieving five double-digit categories in 1968 cannot be certified through contemporary official steals and blocks statistics; those categories were not tracked by the NBA until the 1973–74 season.
Wembanyama’s place among the NBA’s leading players and his earlier remarkable defensive sequences make a future quadruple-double a defensible possibility. Neither past peaks nor recent averages establish a numerical probability for five categories simultaneously reaching 10. Player health, playing time, opponents’ shot selection, teammates’ shot conversion and random game-to-game variation all matter.
A measurable milestone should be reported when the NBA records it. Until then, Wembanyama is a leading candidate by skill profile, while the first official quintuple-double remains an unbroken statistical barrier.
