Auradine has moved its Teraflux Bitcoin mining line into a new efficiency class with the AH3880, an air-cooled machine rated at 600 TH/s while consuming 5,880 watts. That works out to 9.8 joules per terahash, putting a conventional air-cooled miner within one joule per terahash of the newest hydro-cooled efficiency leaders.
According to the company’s September announcement, the AH3880 is now shipping from Thailand to customers. Auradine says the machine is designed in the United States and built around its proprietary EnergyTune technology, which allows miners to optimize hashrate and energy use for site conditions.
600 TH/s from an air-cooled chassis
The headline number is not just the 600 TH/s hashrate. At 9.8 J/TH, the AH3880 sits much closer to BITMAIN’s 8.9 J/TH S23 XP Hydro than earlier air-cooled generations did to their liquid-cooled counterparts. The AH3880 draws 5.88 kW at its rated operating point, making electrical branch-circuit design and airflow management especially important.
That combination also highlights the broader slowdown in easy efficiency gains discussed in recent Bitcoin mining efficiency analysis. As leading machines move toward single-digit J/TH, each additional improvement becomes harder to achieve without changes in silicon, voltage, thermal design and system architecture.
In a recent company update, Auradine highlighted the new Teraflux generation as part of its push to increase Bitcoin mining performance while retaining the operational flexibility of air cooling.
Efficiency changes the economics of every megawatt
At 9.8 J/TH, one megawatt of idealized machine load corresponds to roughly 102 PH/s before accounting for site overhead. That is why small J/TH changes become large electricity differences when multiplied across a data center.
The comparison is especially relevant as operators replace older fleets. BitcoinVersus recently documented how S21-generation machines are becoming the new fleet baseline and how one operator gained substantially more hashrate from the same electrical envelope through a same-power ASIC refresh.
A U.S.-designed ASIC enters a crowded hardware race
Auradine’s significance extends beyond one specification sheet. The Bitcoin ASIC market has historically been dominated by Asian manufacturers. BitcoinVersus’ ASIC architecture comparison tracks the competing silicon and system approaches from BITMAIN, Canaan, MicroBT and Bitdeer, while Bitdeer is building SEALMINER manufacturing capacity in Nevada.
Auradine says the AH3880 is designed in the United States and currently manufactured in Thailand. That does not make its supply chain entirely domestic, but it adds another hardware architecture to a market where miner availability, firmware control, serviceability and sourcing geography increasingly matter alongside raw TH/s.
Air cooling still has an infrastructure advantage
Hydro systems can support extreme power density and very low chip temperatures, but they require pumps, coolant distribution, heat exchangers or dry coolers and additional mechanical infrastructure. Air-cooled miners remain easier to deploy in existing mining buildings and containers that already have high-volume ventilation.
The tradeoff is heat rejection. A 5.88 kW miner effectively becomes a nearly 5.9 kW space heater while hashing. Hundreds or thousands of AH3880 units would require substantial fan capacity, intake management and exhaust separation even though the ASIC itself does not need a liquid loop.
What to verify as shipments reach mining sites
The next useful data will come from independent wall-power and pool-side testing. Operators should verify sustained accepted hashrate, actual wall consumption, J/TH, fan power, inlet-temperature sensitivity, rejected shares, noise, firmware stability and performance across EnergyTune settings.
If production units consistently deliver the published 600 TH/s at 9.8 J/TH, Auradine will have demonstrated that air-cooled Bitcoin mining hardware can remain competitive near the front edge of the efficiency curve without adopting a facility-wide hydro loop.
