NVIDIA Makes DLSS 5 Faster

A fresh discussion on r/NVIDIA surfaced NVIDIA’s latest DLSS 5 update, and the underlying announcement is unusually specific: NVIDIA says the new 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model runs 2× faster than the September version while keeping comparable visual fidelity.

The current r/NVIDIA discussion points readers to NVIDIA’s October 13 DLSS 5 update.

According to NVIDIA’s official update, the model footprint is down 24% to roughly 118 million parameters, 4K VRAM use is down 20%, and GPU overhead is about half that of the September model. Those are vendor figures; broad independent testing of the new build is still limited. Tom’s Hardware separately reported the same specifications from NVIDIA’s release.

The first rollout lands October 16 in NBA 2K27, where NVIDIA says the faster model can raise frame rates by up to 1.4×. DLSS 5 is also coming to RTX Spark that day, RTX Remix on October 23, Hogwarts Legacy on November 5, and Where Winds Meet later in November.

NVIDIA’s official Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 demonstration shows the neural-rendering approach now receiving the faster model.

The update matters because neural rendering has to improve image quality without consuming so much GPU time that the gain disappears. That tradeoff connects directly to BitcoinVersus.Tech’s earlier coverage of RTX Spark, our explainer on AI in video games, and the use of RTX Remix for path-traced remasters.
