Bitcoin ETFs Gain $74.6 Million as Fidelity Leads BlackRock

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $74.6 million in net inflows on November 4, reversing two consecutive sessions of redemptions, according to Farside Investors’ daily fund-flow records. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) led with $236.7 million in inflows, while BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) lost $201.2 million. The divergent fund movements complicate any claim of a broad institutional buying surge.

The reversal follows BitcoinVersus.Tech’s November 3 report on $1.04 billion of outflows across two prior trading sessions. Spot Bitcoin ETFs, introduced in the United States in January 2024, issue shares designed to track Bitcoin prices while holding the underlying asset through custodial arrangements. Share creations and redemptions can indicate shifts in demand, although trading activity and Bitcoin price changes do not translate directly into net flows.

Fidelity Leads While BlackRock Records Redemptions

The November 4 breakdown shows Fidelity FBTC gaining $236.7 million, ARK 21Shares ARKB gaining $19.9 million, Bitwise BITB gaining $15.2 million and Invesco Galaxy BTCO gaining $4.0 million. BlackRock IBIT lost $201.2 million. Summing the five reported nonzero fund movements produces $74.6 million in net inflows, consistent with Farside’s aggregate.

The numbers are net creations and redemptions, not direct measurements of how many Bitcoin coins every investor bought or sold on an exchange. ETF shares also change hands between investors without requiring new fund shares. Flows can be revised as fund reporting becomes complete.

BlackRock remains the dominant historical accumulator despite the daily reversal. Farside reports approximately $65.6 billion of cumulative IBIT net inflows since launch, compared with roughly $10.4 billion for Fidelity FBTC as of November 4. One day of relative outperformance therefore does not establish a durable leadership change.

A Rebound Against a Weak Weekly Backdrop

The daily rebound did not erase the recent drawdown. Farside recorded $398.6 million in net outflows on November 2 and $115.6 million on November 3, leaving a three-session November balance of negative $439.6 million through November 4. Adding October 30’s $643.2 million outflow produces approximately $1.08 billion in net withdrawals across those four trading sessions.

A separate October fund-flow review documented earlier volatility, while BlackRock’s third-quarter digital-asset fund results illustrate the longer-term institutional context. Daily flow estimates must be assessed alongside trading volumes, asset prices, fund holdings and reporting cutoffs.

What Investors Should Watch

The immediate question is whether Fidelity’s large positive session develops into sustained inflows across multiple issuers. A single positive aggregate can mask heavy redemptions from another major fund, as November 4 demonstrates. Fund-flow reversals can also coincide with macroeconomic news, portfolio rebalancing or market volatility without establishing causation.

Bitcoin exposure through ETFs carries market risk, fees, custody dependencies and tracking differences. The next useful evidence will be finalized November 5 flow reports and subsequent trading sessions, not an assumption that a one-day rebound marks a lasting recovery. Additional Bitcoin-linked ETF product developments show the market continues to diversify, but product innovation does not eliminate price risk.
