Tata Consultancy Services is moving deeper into physical AI infrastructure through HyperVault, which has secured 264 acres in Hyderabad for a planned data center campus with capacity of up to 1 GW.

In TCS’s official announcement on X, the company said it is taking AI-ready infrastructure to scale in Hyderabad through HyperVault. The project is intended for frontier AI companies and hyperscalers running dense GPU training, inference and advanced computing workloads.

The TCS project announcement says development will proceed in phases as customer demand and technology requirements evolve. Reuters independently reported the land acquisition and planned gigawatt-scale buildout.

A gigawatt is the ceiling, not capacity already online

The most important distinction is timing. HyperVault has secured the site and announced the full-build target, but the campus is not a completed 1 GW facility today. TCS says the project will be phased, which means delivered power, installed compute and operational capacity should be tracked separately as construction advances.

That matters in an AI infrastructure market where announced megawatts can run far ahead of energized server halls. BitcoinVersus.Tech recently examined how AI is increasing the value and complexity of data center cabling, one of the physical systems that must scale alongside power and compute.

DD News Telangana reports on TCS HyperVault’s planned gigawatt-scale Hyderabad AI data center campus.

Liquid cooling is part of the campus from the start

HyperVault says the campus is being designed around high-density GPU deployments, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, larger power blocks and faster deployment. Those choices reflect how AI facilities are diverging from conventional enterprise data centers: cooling and electrical architecture increasingly have to be designed around accelerator density rather than added later.

BitcoinVersus.Tech has tracked the same shift through LG’s expansion of AI data center chiller manufacturing and the growing push toward certified direct-to-chip cooling infrastructure. HyperVault is effectively designing those thermal requirements into the campus blueprint rather than treating them as an optional retrofit.

Power delivery becomes the real milestone

At this scale, land is only the beginning. The milestones that will determine how quickly the project becomes useful compute are delivered utility capacity, substations, backup systems, cooling plants, fiber routes, commissioned data halls and actual customer deployments.

TCS also says the campus will incorporate green energy and water-neutral design principles. Those goals will become measurable as individual phases move from planning into construction and operation. Until then, the cleanest way to read the announcement is as a very large infrastructure roadmap with a defined site and a gigawatt-scale destination.
