BitcoinVersus.Tech has added an 8.3% annualized efficiency scenario to its Bitcoin Mining Singularity model after comparing a 9.5 J/TH baseline with Bitmain’s newer S23 XP Hyd. rating of 8.9 J/TH.
The raw reduction in joules per terahash is about 6.32%. Because the comparison spans roughly nine months, BitcoinVersus.Tech normalized the change to a 12-month interval using compounding: 1 − (8.9 ÷ 9.5)12/9 ≈ 8.33%. The 8.3% line is therefore a research scenario, not a claim that ASIC efficiency will permanently improve at that rate.

The update is intended to stress-test Power Efficiency Theory, particularly its diminishing-efficiency-return assumption as mining hardware moves toward the proposed 1 J/TH milestone. The related Power Efficiency Index (PEI) remains a separate experimental valuation framework rather than a hardware forecast.
BITMAIN’s official store currently lists the S23 XP Hyd. at 600 TH/s, 5,340 W and 8.9 J/TH. JGM Learn’s launch record dates the announcement to August 28, 2026 and notes that the product remains futures hardware awaiting delivery verification. That distinction matters: the 8.9 J/TH figure is still a manufacturer rating, not broad independent field data.
Future ASIC generations can move the projection in either direction. The purpose of the new curve is to make the Singularity thesis more testable as new efficiency data arrives.
