FORT Robotics Combines Wireless Networks for Robots

FORT Robotics introduced Connectivity Aggregation on October 14, 2026, a software system designed to keep autonomous vehicles and remotely operated robots connected when individual wireless networks weaken or fail.

According to the company’s announcement, the system combines cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi and radio connections into one logical link. It continuously evaluates available paths and shifts traffic as conditions change. FORT says it is rolling out the product with several defense customers, but has not published independent field-performance benchmarks.

FORT Robotics CTO Nathan Bivans explains the principles behind wireless machine safety; this earlier video provides context rather than demonstrating the new software.

The technical product description says operators can prioritize latency, bandwidth or reliability. Separate traffic classes can give control signals different protection from video or audio. The software can run on customer hardware without requiring a proprietary cellular network.

A resilient connection matters for remote control, but it does not replace fail-safe behavior when all links disappear. The company has separately worked with Agility Robotics on Digit 5 robot safety. The technical issues also connect to packet loss and jitter and industrial emergency-stop design.

FORT reports more than 19,500 deployed units across its wider safety platform, but that figure should not be mistaken for installations of the newly announced connectivity software.
